“FabrianoInAcquarello” stands as the sole international meeting in the field of watercolor paper, organized as a CONFERENCE MEETING.
It is an inclusive, non-competitive event open to everyone - from masters and artists to industry professionals, the public, schools, and companies that produce materials for this technique.
Each year, participants gather in Bologna to reach Fabriano, the city where papermaking was born in the West. They come together to discuss, observe, share, and plan the future of watercolor worldwide. The conference is widely considered the most important of its kind globally, not only for its powerful and emotionally engaging collaborative method but also because, by involving all key players in the sector, it serves as a source of inspiration and a catalyst for cultural and creative research.
The project was launched in 2010 by a team of public and private organizations. By leveraging two local excellences, they helped the project quickly gain international recognition among artists. These key assets are:
Paper, specifically the kind made for the art world.
The industrial brand "Fabriano," a symbol of drawing and watercolor paper. The brand's international prestige stems from its historical industrial paper mill and a number of artisan paper mills in Fabriano that distribute paper all over the world.
Art transcends barriers and monopolies, fostering global communication and collaboration among artists. FabrianoInAcquarello, the International Watercolor Platform, and the International Watercolor Museum unite more than 90 watercolor communities worldwide.
Through cooperation, sharing, and connection, they form a single, beating heart.
