I am Geethal Punchihewa from Sri Lanka, and watercolor painting has been my passion since my school days. What began as a personal hobby gradually evolved into a serious artistic pursuit. I was initially a self-taught artist, exploring the medium through observation and practice, before refining my skills under the guidance of internationally renowned watercolor artist Sanjeewee Senevirathna.
I was born and raised in the coastal town of Galle, the southern capital of Sri Lanka, and the rhythm of coastal life has had a lasting influence on my work. I am deeply inspired by seascapes, changing light, and the quiet beauty of everyday island life.
My paintings reflect a strong connection to nature, light, and atmosphere. Through simplicity and expressive brushwork, I seek to capture fleeting moments and subtle moods, inviting the viewer to experience the calm, warmth, and authenticity of my surroundings.
