About me

Artist statement

I love to observe flowers, to see  how the sunlight hits the petals. I have learnt this skill of seeing what others miss from my mom as a child.

I have come to botanical art through an academic career after working in oil in portrait, landscape and still life genres. Art education and career have taught me to value participation in plein air painting, exchange of experience and collaborations above all. Such creative interactions have taught me much more than the formal education and convinced me that it is the environment that forms an artist.

That is why during the first lockdown I have created an online “School of Botanical Art ” where I have united women from different countries. I believe that art has healing powers. And by practicing art people can gain peace and experience joy of creative discoveries despite living in the stone jungles of big cities. For me botanical watercolour is a about constant exploring of the materials’ possibilities and ways of artistic expression. I aim to join botanical precision and metaphoric expression, science and art.
