About me
Tózé Baião is a Portuguese self-taught watercolor artist who developed his passion for art at a young age. He began painting in watercolor in the 1990s, gradually refining his unique style and mastery of the medium. With an intuitive approach, Tozé has developed a distinctive style that blends rich, translucent washes with intricate, layered brushwork, creating pieces that balance realism with a subtle, dreamlike quality. His paintings often capture the natural world’s fleeting moments, from sweeping landscapes to intimate still lifes, emphasizing color and the interplay of light and shadow to evoke atmosphere and mood.
Since 2013, Tozé has shared his passion for watercolor by teaching, guiding new and experienced artists through the technical and expressive possibilities of the medium. His work has garnered international recognition, with pieces held in collections around the world, reflecting a universal appeal and timeless quality. Over the years, he has exhibited extensively in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, the United States, India and New Zealand, contributing significantly to the global watercolor community and leaving a lasting impact on the contemporary watercolor scene.
He is a member of the Portuguese Watercolor Association and the International Watercolor Society
