I was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1967. After obtaining my music degree from the State Conservatoire of the same city in 1990, I moved to the UK, where I studied Fine Arts Mixed Media at the University of Westminster in London, during which I concentrated mainly on two-dimensional media: photography, painting, and printmaking in particular.
After receiving my BA (hons) in 1997, I moved to Spain. From 2013 onwards, I have concentrated most of my artwork on watercolor painting, and since then I have had various solo exhibitions in Spain and participated in numerous national and international exhibitions in countries including Russia, France, Poland, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Colombia, Ukraine, Japan, Slovenia, Turkey, Australia, Chile, Ireland, Italy, and the UK, obtaining various awards on numerous occasions.
What draws me most to painting is the quiet act of exploration: the rediscovery of the forms and colours of everyday objects we grow accustomed to and too often cease to truly see. Under shifting light, these familiar things reveal new arrangements and fleeting relationships. Noticing them becomes a visual game that accompanies me throughout the day.
Painting is, for me, a process of translation - a movement from a tangle of impressions, sensations, and visual languages into the singular voice of a chosen medium. In watercolour, that voice is shaped by transparency and flow. Pigment and water mingle, stain, drift, and settle, creating passages that cannot be entirely predicted or controlled. This is precisely its allure. Watercolour is a living medium, responsive and self-willed, with a character of its own. To work with it is to let it loose, to listen, and to learn its behaviour - to enter into a quiet, friendly, dance-like collaboration, following the paint as much as guiding it, and allowing it to reveal what it wants to become.
