Lan Fang is renowned for her realistic and figurative still lifes and landscapes. She is one of the few CSPWC Elected Members of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, a contemporary Canadian watercolor artist, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Watercolor Painting from Tsinghua University, China. She currently resides in British Columbia, Canada.
In March 2025, her work "Orchids and Jade Pot on a Silk Scarf" was selected for the CSPWC's "100th Anniversary Elected Member Exhibition," one of only 35 works worldwide to be included. In September, this work won the "MOST OUTSTANDING WORK AWARD" at the IWS CANADA "United Through Watercolour 2025" competition.
Lan Fang possesses exceptional watercolor skills and has received numerous international awards since 2019. She won first place on paper in the McMichael Gallery's annual "En Plein Air Painting Competition" in Ontario for two consecutive years (2021 and 2022); First Place for Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society 2023 Spring International Watercolor Open, USA; Top 200 of the IWM International Watercolor Masters 2024; and represented Canada at the Fabriano Acquarello Watercolor Competition in 2022 and 2024. In 2024, her work "Autumn in Algonquin" received a Top 50 Award in the Landscape category. She was also featured in an artist interview in IWS CANADA's "Summer 2022" magazine in June 2022.
Lan Fang's art draws inspiration from the natural landscapes of Ontario and British Columbia, Canada. She advocates for reverence and care for nature and the Earth. Every life is precious, full of beauty and resilience; we need to protect them and avoid harming them as much as possible to maintain harmony between humanity and the planet. She always makes time to connect with nature, engaging in spiritual dialogue with trees, rivers, mountains, and birds. She strives to feel them—the warm sunshine, the birdsong, and the babbling brook are all points of reference that evoke immense joy in her.
