Irina Bakumenko is a watercolor artist based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. She is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) and a Member of the International Watercolor Society of Canada (IWS Canada).
Her artistic practice centers on landscape, waterscapes, cityscapes, and house portraits, with a particular focus on water, light, and architectural presence. Irina is especially drawn to scenes involving lakes, harbors, docks, and yachts, where reflections and transparent layers become essential elements of the composition.
Through watercolor, she explores the idea of place as memory — houses as portraits, cities as lived spaces, and water as a quiet, ever-changing mirror. Her work is characterized by a restrained palette, layered washes, and an emphasis on atmosphere, balance, and calm observation rather than narrative detail.
Irina’s paintings are held in private collections across 12 countries, reflecting an international appreciation for her poetic yet structured approach to watercolor. Originally from Russia, she has lived and worked in Canada for the past six years, drawing ongoing inspiration from the landscapes and urban environments of the Okanagan region.
