I am a Melbourne-based emerging artist, working in watercolour and graphite. Born in Canada, I migrated to Australia in 1985 and worked as an academic until 2015. Informed by my training as a social scientist, my artistic work explores contemporary political, social and environmental issues and the fragility of creaturely existence.
My work in 2021 continued to be influenced by the pandemic. As repeated long lockdowns forced us to retreat from the world, my subject matter became local and deeply personal: a series of memento mori from my 5 km walks and intimate portraits of absent family and friends.
