About me

I am drawn to watercolor for its lightness, challenge, versatility, and natural quality compared to many other painting mediums. I have been working with watercolor for over ten years, studying with several teachers in Finland and abroad.

Nature and its wonders are a constant source of inspiration for my art. Beauty and color play an essential role both in my life and in my paintings. In my work, I often explore the relationship between humans and nature, reflecting on presence, time, and coexistence. I am also interested in the quiet mystery that emerges when something familiar becomes slightly distant or unreadable.Art history also inspires me deeply. The idea of Ars longa, vita brevis resonates with my practice: through art, we become part of an intergenerational continuum, contributing our own voice through creativity.

My competition work, "The Door Sealed by Time", reflects my fascination with traces of time in landscapes and architecture. Vallisaari, now a public recreational island near Helsinki, is rich in layered history and natural diversity. The door in the painting embodies temporal and visual layers, where scratches and patina serve as quiet reminders of the island’s past as a defense site, while also echoing its present life as a place for walking, observation, and return.
