Carrie Waller is a watercolor artist known for her highly realistic and detailed style. Her background in Interior Design and Graphic Design, along with years spent living in Europe and Asia, has significantly influenced her artistic vision. She currently works from her studio in Arkansas, having recently returned from Tokyo, Japan, where she lived for over eight years. Her work is recognized for its bold, vibrant, and dramatic presence.
Carrie has received numerous awards and has been featured in a wide range of publications, including Watercolor Artist Magazine, The Art of Watercolor, Pratique des Arts, Artists & Illustrators, International Artist’s Magazine, American Art Collector, Southwest Art, and Splash: The Best of Watercolor (Volumes 14 and 16–26). Her work has been exhibited internationally, recently at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Kyoto Kyocera Museum of Art, and the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum. Additional exhibitions include venues in Thessaloniki, Greece; Fabriano, Italy; Santa Marta, Colombia; London, England; Shenzhen, China; Brussels, Belgium; and the Salmagundi Club in New York.
She was awarded Best in Show at the 2023 Women in Watercolor Competition and received the $10,000 Grand Prize at the American Women Artists 2020 Museum Competition. Carrie is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Louisiana Watercolor Society, Mid-Southern Watercolorists, and the Watercolor Honor Society.
In addition to her studio practice, Carrie teaches workshops both online and in person and serves as an ambassador for Daniel Smith Watercolors. She currently holds the position of Awards Director and Vice President of the National Watercolor Society and also serves as Public Relations Director for Mid-Southern Watercolorists.
