Light, its twin, Shade and their cousins the “Colors” never cease to fascinate me! An obsession with all things visual has taken me on various journeys of photography, sketching and lately painting.
A doctor (pediatrician) by training and vocation, I have always indulged in the arts in all its forms. For most of my youth I have been a keen photographer and celebrated the nuances and subtleties of light and shade. I was fortunate to be doing this in the era of analogue and black and white media, and the learnings from then have had a profound effect on my evolution as an artist and a visual storyteller. The erstwhile photographer in me does show up in my work in street scenes, or the vignettes of magical light captured in the moment.
I am also lucky to reap the vast benefits conferred by social media by way of exposure to a staggering variety of art, artists and learning experiences . I work with acrylics & dry media, but my love story with watercolors always takes centerstage!
With no formal training in the field, I set out in 2019 to pursue Art, my other love and hobby since childhood. I soon discovered that it is watercolors that offered me the challenge, and gave me the joy and fulfillment to keep going. Cityscapes, florals, still life are some of the recurring themes in my art. Abstract realism is an area that interests me and I hope to explore.
Following the works of contemporary Masters, trying to hone my skills and learning new techniques while at the same time experimenting on my own… you might call me an artist in a hurry ! 😊
