Gail Sutherland is originally from Montreal and moved to Nova Scotia in the spring of 1991. She is primarily a landscape painter, and her work is inspired by the rugged beauty of the Maritimes, particularly its coastal trails and vistas. Her background is in both Commercial and Fine Art, so she is familiar with most mediums but loves watercolour for its unpredictable, transparent nature. Gail feels the medium best captures the ethereal beauty of her subject. She paints both in her studio and on location (Plein Air), which she finds challenging but rewarding as it allows her to be closer to her subject. Gail’s work has been exhibited locally and Internationally and can be found in many private and corporate collections worldwide.
