Lourdes Perlas is an artist born and based in Barcelona.
Her artistic practices talk about landscape with the travel as a main reference. The creative process in her pieces start by observing a space, analyzing its colors, the light and even its smells. Followed by drawing notes à plain air and completed with photographic documentation that allows her to work the art piece from a much more reflexive vision.
Through her work she generates an abstraction of the surroundings but keeping certain realism that allows context to the viewer. With an expressive brushwork, clear colors and formats that she uses from a frontal point of view, the essence of the drawing is elevated.
Watercolor is the main technique she uses but sometimes she complements it with other much more experimental ones such as Gyotaku - a Japanese printing technique -. As support, she always uses acid free cotton paper.
