About Me – Helene Wallin
I’ve always loved being creative. Even as a child, I was happiest surrounded by color, shapes, and plants. I spent hours drawing, painting, taking photos, and playing with clay and papier-mâché. It felt natural for me to choose art in school, first in high school and then at Ålsta Folkhögskola, where I studied everything from painting and sculpture to printmaking and textiles. I still use all of that knowledge in my work today.
These days, most of my time is spent with watercolors — and I absolutely love it. Watercolor is such a fascinating medium because you’re only part of the process: the water, pigments, and paper all have their say. I work with the highest quality paints and cotton-fiber paper, using wet-in-wet and dry techniques, spraying, pouring, and letting the colors flow. Sometimes I put a painting aside and return to it later, letting it evolve until it feels complete.
For me, painting is about more than technique — it’s about feeling, observing, and capturing the quiet beauty of nature. I hope my work invites you to pause, reflect, and feel the same calm and poetry that I feel while creating it.
