About me

Paola Caldarigi is an artist who manages to convey her emotions through her work. Her art comes from the heart, romantic and at times dreamy. She was born in Sassoferrato in the Marche region (Italy) in 1971. From a young age, she loved drawing colors and shades; brushes and canvases would take her far from her small village of Cabernardi, in the province of Ancona, where she lives, once famous for its sulfur mine, one of the largest in Europe. Paola was unable to pursue her passion, but was instead directed toward technical studies. Thus, between corporate balance sheets and accounting, she never abandoned her desire to be emotionally moved, because only through drawing could she feel free, like an erupting volcano. Curious, passionate, enthusiastic, and brilliant, she took courses and was finally able to explore a wide variety of artistic techniques. She studied under great masters such as Francesco Garofoli, Caterina Prato, Domenico di Meco, Paola Ballanti, and Gabriele Mazzara; She experimented with oil painting, etching, aquatint, hatching, and watercolor. She participated in group exhibitions, charity auctions, and competitions, and decorated shop windows; every challenge heightened her desire to learn and inspire excitement, but the most moving experience came during the most difficult period of her life, when she fully understood that art could save lives. In the COVID-19 ward in Senigallia (AN), hospitalized in serious condition, she received a gift from the medical staff (Angeli in the overalls) of drawing materials, and it was there that she created her most delicate roses. She realized that, without thinking about treatment or fear, she could step out from those high white walls and capture on paper the hope of success, of recovery. Painting had become pure poetry, strength, and joy. Grateful for life, she participated in the Fabriano in Acquarello activities, a wonderful showcase of artists from around the world, each expressing their culture and passions. Paola experimented with new techniques, painting with natural colors extracted from precious spices like saffron; Fascinated, she soon understands that nature offers the most comprehensive and inspiring palette of pure beauty, nourishing the heart with stunning colors through art. Every horizon can save, because if you look closely, there's still so much love; you can be intoxicated by its scent and its myriad nuances, in a landscape where values and feelings seem lost, reunited in an intense and tender embrace filled with suffering, yes, but also with so much hope.
