Simonida Filipova Kitanovska has been a professional artist all her life. At Acquarello in Fabriano 2024 she will be presenting her work at the festival for the third time and serving as a country leader of North Macedonia.Right after graduating in the late eighties from the National Art Academy in her native Republic of Macedonia (then Yugoslavia) her work was featured in the National Art Gallery as she was recognized as one of the leading artists of the country. Her work has been presented in all inhabited continents on nearly thirty solo shows throughout Europe and the US, and at more than one hundred group exhibitions in Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia, France, USA, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Australia, Peru, Costa Rica, Romania, Albania, Armenia, Greece, India, Turkey, Italy, China, Turkey, and Thailand. She frequently demos her technique at festivals, workshops, and art schools.Mrs. Filipova Kitanovska was awarded on many occasions for her artistic excellence. From 1991-1997 she lived in the U.S.A. and exhibited in the Boston area and at Agora Gallery in Soho, New York City. As a painter and visual artist, she expressed herself in different media – oil, acrylic, installation, combined techniques, and video. However, last ten years her work has been almost exclusively dedicated to the exploration of watercolor. She found that this fast-drying technique, often full of unpredictability yet precise and unmerciful to mistakes or corrections, matches her own character, explosiveness in expression and gesture, drawing using color, and unquenched thirst for realizing ideas on the inviting white surface instantly.
