Sohini Mukherjee

Born and raised in Kolkata, the cultural capital of India, I started painting when I was a child.I was, always fascinated with the play of colors. Painting became my favorite hobby and a place  of solace . When my friends would go out to play, O would often find a corner to sit and paint.

However, the decision to take up painting as a profession was a choice made at a much later date in my life. Growing up in Bengal, I have always been fascinated by the local mythology, folk art which is reflected in many of my works along with the landscape of Bengal. The other defining thing about my works is the use of bold and vibrant colours. My favorite medium is watercolor though I also work with acylics and oil frequently.
