About me
Name: Olena Anopriienko
Country: Ukraine
City: Kyiv
I am a Ukrainian watercolor artist living and working in Kyiv.
I was born in Donetsk, Ukraine, and my personal and artistic experience is deeply shaped by the perception of reality through distance, reflection, and fragile boundaries between inner and outer worlds.
My work explores themes of observation, light, water, and transparency. I am particularly interested in glass surfaces, reflections, raindrops, water planes, and urban environments seen through them as visual metaphors of memory, presence, separation, and emotional states. Water often becomes a border between different realities: interior and exterior, safety and vulnerability, silence and movement.
Light plays a key role in my paintings as a physical phenomenon and as a symbol of life, hope, and continuity. Night cityscapes, rain-soaked streets, seascapes, and quiet urban moments are recurring motifs in my practice.
Watercolor is my primary medium. I am drawn to its unpredictability, delicacy, and ability to convey atmosphere, light, and emotional depth.
My works are held in private collections in:
Ukraine, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Denmark, Australia, South Korea, USA, Rwanda
