Claudia Arriagada was born in Santiago de Chile, where she lives and works to this day. In her family there are several generations of scientists and, following the footsteps of her ancestors, she studied Biochemistry, specializing in Molecular Biology. When she becomes a mother for the second time she decides to leave the world of scientific research and dedicated herself to the study of fine arts and watercolor, taking multiple courses and workshops with Chilean and international artists.
“Painting with watercolor is like playing a turn-based game, which takes place between some layers of spontaneity and others of highly studied accuracy. Each of them is a challenge that directs the steps that will follow.”
Her artistic work in watercolor is realistic and descriptive, she constructs scenes with everyday objects, trinkets from the disposable culture, giving them a more aesthetic and emotional spin.
“My creative process starts from the game and enjoyment of making or discovering arrangements that connect to narratives, popular refrains or reflections, remembering the fact that we are playful animals”
Claudia has participated with her artistic work in group exhibitions, she has been a finalist in multiple watercolor competitions, as well as art fairs inside and outside her country.
