Bay Area based artist, Linda Nystrom, combines Chinese and Western paintbrush styles to reproduce the grace and beauty of nature. Originally trained in Chinese brush painting in the 1970s, Linda has attended Chinese and western style watercolor painting workshops throughout U.S. Linda is also an avid photographer where she learned how to observe light and appreciate how it can dramatically transform textures and colors.
Her latest series of watercolors, "Embracing Nature", explores how humans can interface with nature. She has always wanted her paintings to tell a story. Using whimsey as a foundation for her stories, she has transferred her watercolor skills from depicting delicate flowers to the painting folded fabric and human features. 'Freedom', a painting of her daughter releasing a crane from her kimono, was recently accepted into Fabriano in Acquarello, Italy for their April 2025 exhibit. Her customers reside both in the U.S. and South America.
She joined the Board in 2024 and is currently the President of Silicon Valley Visual Arts which produces Silicon Valley Open Studios
