James Willis isan artist, art hostprian and educator from the UK.
He studied Fine Art and Music at the University of Chester followed by an M.A. in teh HItsoyr of Art at Birkbeck College, London. He has pursued his love of art in a varied career working for several notable institutions including Sir John Soane's Museum. the Bartlett School of Architecture, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge and Makerere University, Uganda.
His owok exlpores architecture from his travels at home and abroad with a particular interest in capturing a sense of time and place. He has been described on more than one occasion as 'The Canaletto of Hitchin'. More recently his work has retunred to the figure in drawing and painitng.
Reacet solo exhibitions have included those at The Coin Street Gallery, OXO Tower London, The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, and The Nehru Centre, Indian High Commission, London. His Venetian paintings have been twice selected by the Royal Society of Marine Artists. In2023 he exhibited alongside his friend and neighbour the Bristh-American artists Carl Laubi.
His work is in pubic and private collections in Britain and abroad.
