Linda Derksen, born in Randwijk, The Netherlands, started drawing and painting at an early age. During her schoolyears, she was already intrigued by faces, sketching her family members, classmates, and portraits from magazines.
After studying at Wageningen University, working as a consultant, co-founding an IT company with her husband, and running her own furniture-decoration business, Linda Derksen chose to pursue her lifelong passion in 2012: art painting.
Employing diverse materials such as pencil, charcoal, watercolor, and oil paints, she crafts in a realistic style, capturing the interplay of light and shadow that reveals unexpected colors and shapes.
Linda's art revolves around the subtle, introverted figures, inviting viewers to the inner world of the portrayed individuals. The subjects, with their unique lighting, sometimes evoke feelings of isolation and solitude. Human figures, vibrant color palettes, and light-dark contrasts define Linda's distinctive painting style.
Linda Derksen has been selected by the Dutch Portrait Prize as finalist, nominee and/or exhibitor in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023.
