My name is Ma Regina Gaon. My close friends and family call me "Reggie." I am an architect by profession and I am semi-retired . I graduated in architecture at the University of Sto. Tomas on April 1985 I started to paint during my younger years but I never got the chance to paint everyday during my college days or even after college due to work. I focused more on acrylic and charcoal in the past and watercolor was just mere wash outs. I began to focus on watercolor in 2021 ( during the pandemic) and learned the techniques day by day. I joined the Philippine Guild of Watercoloorists in Aug of 2021 and started joining the local exhibits of PGW . I also got the chance to join exhibits abroad and a regular member of JIWI ( Japan International Watercolor Institute) . I was a selected artist several times of Globe IFAM. I was also a selected artist several times to some exhibits under IWS, Philippines.
Painting has been my passion during my free time or when I want to loosen up. I love painting florals and forest landscapes. I love to paint animals and still life, too.I also love painting nature and urbanscape. . Though, I am still developing myself when it comes to figures and faces . I love earth colors but I am getting to like the color of roses and peonies. Probably , that's the reason why I thought of painting a basket filled with flowers. Watercolor is such as elusive medium that really needs to be developed through the years.I still attend a few workshops every now and then just to simply hone my craft. I sometimes experiment my brush strokes and see if it works for me. It simply is an ongoing process that needs a lot of patience .
