About me

I am inspired by ABSTRACTION in its broadest sense—from nature and objects to inner landscapes of emotions, sensations, and thoughts. Watercolor is my language, with WATER as the essential vehicle of expression. Music, words, and stories deeply influence my work, awakening emotions that I instinctively translate into paint. Through watercolor, my two passions—psychology and art—naturally converge, creating a bridge between inner experience and visual expression. I seek to SUGGEST rather than define, leaving space for fantasy, the unspoken, and personal interpretation.

My name is María Inés, I´m psychologist and I live in San Martían de los Andes, Patagonia Argentina.

Since childhood, I have loved painting, thought it was alwayas a purely recreational pursuit.

In 2020, during the pandemic -just as my fourth child was born- I took an online introductoty watercolor course and began painting on my own.

In 2023, I began studying with my wonderful teacher, Kira Mamontoff, with whom I haver learned -and continue to learn and share- so much within the world of watercolor.

This year, I took part in an artistic residency in Frutillar, Chile, at Taller en el Lago, directed by Inge Schobitz and led by Kira. In November, I returned to Chile to attend the Frutillar Watercolor Festival 2025. Both experiences were deeply enriching and offered profound opportunities for learning and growth.

I love painting, I am mesmerized by the way water works its magic, creating movements and paths I could never have imaginated. In this ebb and flow of water and pigment, I allow myself to be carried along.

This This marks my firt participation in a watercolor competition.
