My name is Helen Eriksdotter and I am a self-taught Swedish watercolor artist based in Sweden.

In 2026, I am accepted to the highly prestigious AWS, American Watercolor Society 159th Annual International Exhibition in New York, USA. I have also been awarded the AWS Bronze Medal of Honor (Courtesy of Clara and Ida Wells Stroud) and $3000 for my painting Adagio from AWS 2026.

My painting has also been selected for the AWS Traveling Exhibition, embarking on a year-long nationwide tour to museums and galleries across the USA throughout 2026–2027.

In the same year, I am also named as a Top-Rated Artist at the International Watercolour Masters (IWM) (1 of 200) in the United Kingdom. On January 22, 2026,

I received a "Final Award" in the prestigious international competition Splash 27: The Best of Watercolor  selected from thousands of global entries, the painting "Adagio Amoroso" will be featured in the special edition of Artists Magazine in july 2026.

I was also awarded the Roslagens Sparbanks Cultural Honor Prize 2025.

With a background in classical music – a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (1988) and as an alumna of The Juilliard School in New York (1990) – My visual language is infused with musicality, rhythm, and drama.

I has held several solo exhibitions, including In the Company of Light (2024) and The Nordic Light (2025), and has participated in major international group exhibitions. I have represented the Nordic countries at the ECWS 2025 European Confederation of Watercolor Societies, and Sweden at Fabriano in Acquarello 2025 in Italy and Nordisk Akvarell 2025 at Frederikshavn Art Museum in Denmark.

I am a member of the Nordic Watercolor Society and an associated member at the American Watercolor Society. I have received numerous grants and scholarships, both as an artist and a musician. My works are held in private and corporate collections in Sweden.

I works primarily in alla prima technique – painting everything in a continuous flow – as well as wet-on-wet, in the spirit of the artists I admires most: J.M.W. Turner, John Constable, Anders Zorn, Nita Engels, and George Inness.

I paints on paper from the Italian manufacturer Fabriano “Fabriano Artistico 300 gram hot pressed, and uses paints from Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith.
