Venezuelan watercolorist, visual artist and photographer based in Santiago, Chile, since 2017. I paint atmospheric landscapes, plein air, nature and portraits from one idea: the landscape is not the subject, the feeling is the subject. I come from photography and work both outdoors and in the studio.
I paint commissions (landscapes, portraits and other subjects by arrangement) and teach private watercolor lessons in my studio, online and on plein air outings, as well as live demonstrations. I teach what almost nobody teaches: how to decide what to paint.
My work "Dominicos Plein Air" was selected for "Visiones del Agua", International Watercolor Society 2025. I have been an exhibitor and demonstrator at Art Week Santiago 2024 and 2025.
Artist statement. My creative process is a dialogue between the precision of the photographic eye and the freedom of the watercolor gesture. I am interested in the transient: light that changes from one second to the next and the dynamic atmosphere of nature. Through plein air painting I seek not only to represent a landscape, but to synthesize the energy of the moment, letting water and pigment translate the fragility of what we see before it disappears.
