About me
Joanna Murphy is a watercolor artist living in Reno, Nevada, USA. She is animated by the life around her, whether it is animal, vegetable or mineral.
Specializing in pet portraits, landscapes and urban floral landscapes, she is an avid plein air painter, reveling in the energy of the outdoors as the seasons turn. She also enjoys studio time and the focus that hours of happy painting can bring. People are becoming an increasing motif in her paintings, bringing vibrancy and meaning to their environments.
Joanna's paintings often have a dreamy quality, preferring to show the world in the artist's vision, often an enhanced version of what is. Foliage and florals often find their way into her scenes, softening the sometimes harsh realities of our manmade world.
